British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour issued a declaration supporting the establishment of a “national home for the Jewish people” in Palestine, fundamentally altering the region’s future.
“His Majesty’s Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.”
The declaration would become the foundation for Zionist claims and a source of Palestinian grievance for over a century.
