Romania: drone enters airspace near Galati during Ukraine strikes

Romania defence ministry said a drone entered national airspace about 13 km east of Galati early Thursday, then crashed in an uninhabited area of Tulcea county and caused a small fire that was extinguished. No casualties or material damage were reported. Spanish NATO jets and a Romanian helicopter were scrambled.

Children hospital and school damaged in Kyiv strike wave

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a children hospital in Solomianskyi district was damaged, with broken windows and cars set ablaze nearby. An educational institution was also hit. A nine-storey residential building collapsed and caught fire in the same district. Parts of the city lost power overnight.

Ukrainian authorities say a wave of overnight Russian missile strikes killed at least eight people in Kyiv and the surrounding region and injured at least 33. Apartment blocks and warehouses were hit. Rescue crews pulled two survivors from rubble. BBC reported the State Emergency Service described it as a massive attack.

Parliament confirms Yevhenii Khmara as new defense minister

Ukraine parliament confirmed Yevhenii Khmara as defense minister with 312 votes in favor. Al Jazeera reported he is a career SBU intelligence official and former Alpha unit commander. The vote came a day before overnight missile strikes on Kyiv.
