Iran says seven ships were hit in the Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said seven oil tankers were damaged in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, four after catching fire while transferring oil and three after hitting mines, Al Jazeera reported. A US Central Command spokesperson told Al Jazeera the mine claims were incorrect, that US forces had cleared international lanes, and that about 95 percent of vessels were still getting through. Trump said Iran was inventing attacks to push oil prices higher before US midterm elections.
